Ms. Frizzle's Adventures in Ancient Egypt

It really took me a long time to decide whether or not to read Magic School bus books, because of the references to magic and the impossible, but I grudgingly started reading them.  I still think they are difficult to read-aloud, and kind of a pain, but there they are.

Now, for those non-super-picky moms, if you like Magic School Bus, you'll like this addition.  Ms. Frizzle isn't teaching class, she's on vacation.  But, it's a similar style book, and it shares some of the same style information as the other books.

  1. We haven't read any Magic School Bus books yet. What is it about them that makes them difficult to read aloud?

  2. The fact that there is text, and then there are people having a conversation around the text, and tiny little mini-reports to go with the text, and other odds and ends. So, it makes it kind of jumpy. I am not good at reading out loud things that jump all over the place.

  3. I'm debating on whether or not to use these too, as the pages are so confusing. Like you said, jumping all over the place, pointing at which picture is which. We like Usborne books, but when they start adding in dialogue and such, it just doesn't flow and it irritates me. Thanks for the review!
